PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Week 1: Assessment & Basic Technique
- During the first week, goalkeepers undergo a brief skill assessment to determine their current abilities and areas needing improvement. Coaches will focus on teaching and reinforcing core techniques such as catching, footwork, and body positioning.
Week 2: Positioning & Shot-Stopping
- Building on Week 1, participants learn how to correctly position themselves in the goal based on the angle of attack and distance of the shot. Training will emphasize reaction times, diving form, and parrying techniques to effectively stop shots.
Week 3: Distribution
- This week highlights the critical role distribution plays in modern goalkeeping. Players will practice throwing, rolling, punting, and drop-kicking with precision and speed. Coaches will also introduce decision-making strategies for quick restarts and building play from the back.
Week 4: Gameplay
- In the final week, goalkeepers apply everything they’ve learned in game-like scenarios and scrimmages. Emphasis is placed on communication with defenders, reading the flow of the match, and making split-second decisions.
